Valeria has joined the IfM in 2017 as a PhD student. She is supervised by Dr Letizia Mortara.
Her research focuses on Fabrication Spaces, design and fabrication workshops, and their role as potential drivers of entrepreneurial development in local communities. These new types of organisations offer a variety of resources that go beyond those of a regular prototyping facility. Members of the general public can for the first time access a pool of specialised manufacturing technologies and resources which would have not otherwise be available to them. Thanks to their open and collaborative environment, Fabrication Spaces hold the potential to turn every individual into a possible source of innovation and help shape more sustainable, self-sufficient and entrepreneurial communities.
Valeria has studied for an BA in Political Science and International Relations in Italy and then for an MSc in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship at Portsmouth Business School, UK.
