Dr Elliott Grant

Visiting Fellow

Dr. Elliott Grant is visiting for the 2025 calendar year - with a focus on Machine Intelligence and the future of agriculture.

 

Elliott is an entrepreneur, board member, and advisor working at the intersection of technology and agriculture, who has led the development and commercialization of multiple breakthroughs in the global food system. As a three-time Silicon Valley CEO, he understands the challenges of navigating companies through complexity and uncertainty, and brings expertise in strategy, innovation, and AI.

 

Dr. Grant led the development of foundational AI for agriculture at Google [X], and became CEO of Mineral in 2023 when the project was launched as one of Alphabet’s “Other Bets”. He serves on the Boards of SunWorld International and the International Fresh Produce Association - both global organizations - where he advises on technology and AI strategy. Prior to joining Google, he was the CEO of ShopWell Labs, a provider of personalized nutrition for millions of consumers; and the founding CEO of HarvestMark, a world leader in food traceability.

 

He began his career as a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company, in aerospace, industrials, and semiconductors, and specialized in corporate venturing and innovation. Subsequently, he ran operations for a $250M food packaging manufacturer where he restructured and reorganized factories across the US. He has raised over $200M in capital across multiple stages and executed company acquisitions and sales.

 

He is a named author on more than fifty US Patents across agriculture robotics, remote sensing, computer vision, crop phenotyping, traceability and encryption. Grant earned his PhD in Engineering from Cambridge University (Thesis: International Transfer of Manufacturing), and holds a Masters Degree in Manufacturing Engineering.
