Prof. Cyrille F. Dunant is specialised in the decarbonation of the built environment, from the design of structures to the materials used. A material scientist by training, he is the inventor of a new process to recycle cement recovered from demolition waste in electric arc furnaces. He is also the developer of a structural design software allowing engineers to map complete design spaces for structures, revealing cost-carbon trade-offs. At the IfM, he is trying to understand how manufacturing approaches can help improve construction.
Cyrille is also the CTO of two Cambridge spin-offs, Structural PANDA Ltd and Reclinker Ltd which he co-founded, a member of RILEM and of GLOBE, and has lead the development of a certification criterio for low carbon cement with the Climate Bond Initiative.
