Xinyan joined the IfM as a PhD student in 2023 under the supervision of Dr. Jagjit Singh Srai. Xinyan is a Cambridge Trust Scholar and Jardine Scholar at Peterhouse College. Her current research focuses on the Circular Economy of the Electric Vehicle Battery Industry. Prior to joining the IfM, Xinyan obtained her bachelor’s degree at the University of Leeds, where she was awarded the Yorkshire Union of Institutes Prize for being the most meritorious student in Electronic and Electrical Engineering in 2021. She furthered her academic pursuits by obtaining an MPhil degree in Industrial Systems, Manufacture and Management at the University of Cambridge. With research experience in Quantum Cascade Lasers and work experience in engineering consulting and equity investment, Xinyan brings a diverse skill set to her doctoral studies. Her primary research interests revolve around leveraging interdisciplinary approaches to understand the configuration of low-carbon technologies and future energy systems.
