
Emre leverages his knowledge of law, economics, and finance to deliver insights into industrial resilience and other key sustainability challenges. His main research interests are in natural resources and energy, fiscal mechanisms, regulations, contract law, and law and economics. He also supervises economics at Gonville & Caius, and he is a research associate at Emmanuel College. At the Industrial Research Group, Emre is working with Dr Mukesh Kumar and acts as a PhD adviser to 2 researchers. Previously Emre was a Senior Lecturer in Law and a Senior Lecturer in Finance, both at the University of Aberdeen, where he also served as a University Dean for Internationalization.
For more than a decade he taught law and finance at undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive education levels. Prior to joining academia, he was working in the natural resources sector. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and holds a PhD in Economics, Finance, and Law, an MSc in Economics and Finance, an LLM in Law from the University of Aberdeen as well as a BSc in Economics and a BA in Political Science from North Carolina State University.
