Duncan Hurlstone worked for over 16 years in a leading international manufacturer of technology for the dry mortar industry with roles in international business development and over 7 years as Managing Director of the German Group’s UK subsidiary.
This international experience, coupled with that gained in setting up and running a UK-based manufacturing SME, are what originally attracted Duncan to the toolset and highly collaborative delivery methods that the IfM had developed specifically for SMEs.
Since 2010 Duncan has been working successfully with many manufacturing SMEs as well as larger groups and PLCs across a range of market sectors, most recently as part of IfM’s Prisms project in the East of England, the SMART Innovation programme in Wales, and the ongoing Sharing in Growth Programme that is supporting manufacturing businesses in the Aerospace and Civil Nuclear Sectors across many parts of the UK.
Some of his work is also being used as an example to support the latest IfM led research into strategic technology and innovation management.
Duncan has a Masters Degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Cambridge and an MBA from Warwick Business School. He is based in Manchester.
