Alan is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with over 30 years experience of developing automation solutions for the Pharmaceutical and Food Industries.

His first degree in Mechanical engineering was sponsored by the UK MoD and his PhD, in robotic butchery, was funded by the EU. He works as a Consultant with start-up companies and has also been an employee of Sartorius, SPT Labtech and Merck.

He has developed IP/Patents in food processing, small volume liquid dispensing, printing and low flow gas  control. He is an active participant in the IMechE mentoring forum and has organised various team building activities for his colleagues. Outside of work Alan is a very keen endurance and touring cyclist and always has a few home or vehicle projects in progress.
