Dr Lucy Rogers MBE CEng FREng FIMechE HonFIED is an engineer, author and communicator specialising in translating complex technologies into practical, real-world systems. Her work focuses on carbon-negative and climate-aligned manufacturing, exploring how engineering, materials and production systems can move beyond net zero to actively remove carbon while remaining commercially and operationally viable.

She is also developing the Extreme Environments Engineering Hub (ExEEH), an initiative examining how technologies proven in environments such as Antarctica, deep ocean and space can be translated into robust, resilient and sustainable applications. In parallel, she is working with organisations including Ploughshare to identify technologies developed within defence and explore their potential for adaptation into civilian and industrial use.

With a background spanning industry, academia and media, Lucy has worked across sectors including aerospace, consumer products and advanced manufacturing. Her interests include lifecycle thinking, low-energy processing, circular material flows, and the integration of sensing and control systems to reduce waste and improve efficiency.

Lucy is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and was awarded an MBE in 2024 for services to engineering. She is widely known for her ability to communicate engineering to broad audiences, including as a judge on the BBC series Robot Wars, and through her writing and public engagement.
