Kam Gossal

Industrial Associate

Kam Gossal is new to the IfM Engage team, but as a former client he’s been applying IfM’s state-of-the-art theory, tools and approaches for the last 15 years.

As marketing director for Philips Lifestyle Incubator in Cambridge, he was introduced to IfM and strategic road-mapping, strategic make-or-buy and innovation management.  He has applied these best practices throughout his career and re-engaged IfM in 2020 as Director Global Digital Strategy and Operations Transformation at Smith+Nephew, where for the last three years he has applied and co-developed IfM frameworks, tools and processes to develop Smith+Nephew’s end-to-end digital supply chain strategy.

Kam’s personal experience as a client makes him a valuable advocate of IfM’s unique knowledge-exchange consulting approach “we do it with you, not to you”.  Working in cross-functional business-critical teams he has used IfM frameworks to identify and systematically deconstruct problems to inspire new breakthroughs and deliver workable innovative solutions.  In today’s complex business environment, Kam has seen first-hand how IfM frameworks guide cross-functional teams to accelerate progress, spot missing capability or technology and develop commercially-savvy concepts that create value.

EXPERTISE

Kam has been working at the intersection between customer experience and backend operations.  His expertise lies in understanding customer journeys, generating insights, developing value propositions and linking them to the operating model by evolving existing capabilities (people, process, data, technology) or integrating new ones to deliver differentiated end-to-end customer experiences.

He is comfortable with ambiguity and can wait for answers to emerge having had real hands-on transformation experience.  Kam has a track record of unlocking value in multiple sectors (FMCG, Retail, Online, Mobile, Entertainment, Consumer Electronics, Financial Services and Healthcare) by understanding end-user problems and designing, fostering, de-risking and delivering new digital products, services, apps, processes, capabilities and technologies.

Kam can communicate a vision, engage stakeholders with a fresh perspective, setup governance frameworks across functions and regions to drive alignment and collaboration between business and IT to drive value.

In his role as Industrial Associate, Kam will leverage his digital customer and operational experience to help clients connect the dots and improve end-to-end customer experience by understanding industrial ecosystems and re-thinking internal/external supply chains, risk, resilience, and sustainability.  Kam will also co-lead IfM’s training courses on Digital Supply Chains.

HIGHLIGHTS

Before being invited to join the IfM, Kam gained global commercial and operations experience holding senior management and functional roles in strategic planning (commercial and operations), proposition, marketing, brand and product development for mainly technology, media and telecom companies such as Smith+Nephew, Carphone Warehouse, Telefonica, Philips, Disney, 3, Orange, Dixons and Coca-Cola.  During his tenure at Disney and Philips he led and co-led two corporate start-ups.
