Ben Yass is a PhD student at the Institute for Manufacturing, part of the Cambridge University Engineering Department. His research within the Centre for Industrial Photonics (CIP) focusses on laser based additive manufacturing techniques, with a particular interest in array-based approaches.
Prior to joining the CIP, Ben graduated with a first-class master’s degree from the University of Cambridge’s Manufacturing Engineering and Management course. During his undergraduate degree Ben was president of the Cambridge University 3D Printing Society, where he enjoyed educating students and equipping them with the skills to use 3D printing technology and software effectively, while expanding the reach of 3D printing to a wider audience. When not undertaking research work, Ben can often be found playing Ultimate Frisbee, captaining the university team in 2021-22.
