Gokcen is a Research Associate in the Low-Cost Construction System Development project. She has joined the Distributed Information and Automation Laboratory (DIAL) group at the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM), the University of Cambridge in July 2020.

Her research interests include software engineering, digital transformation in the construction industry, and Building Information Modeling (BIM). Her application areas comprise software process assessment, BIM capability assessment, requirements gathering and development of digital solutions in construction, and data analytics for smart city applications.

She completed her PhD in Information Systems, in Middle East Technical University, Turkey where her dissertation has been awarded by Prof Dr Mustafa N. Parlar Education and Research Foundation as the “Best Thesis in 2018 in the Department of Information Systems”.
