Josephine is a Doctoral student researching within the Fluids in Advanced Manufacturing Research Group at the IfM. Her research looks at advancing touchscreen sensing by linking device fabrication with control of fringe field interactions for soil analysis and water quality monitoring applications.
Before joining the IfM, Josephine completed her MRes in Sensor Technologies, leading to her PhD and an MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development from the University of Cambridge. In the MPhil, she investigated the impact of rural electrification on rural-urban migration as a livelihood strategy for rural households. She also holds a BSc in Telecommunications Engineering from Makerere University.
Her professional experience includes technical leadership managing the operations and maintenance of the payment and billing platform of MTN Uganda, the largest mobile network operator in Africa.
