Georgios Kokkinos has joined the CIP as an MRes student in Ultra Precision Engineering. Currently, his research is focused in a metallic powder coating technique, the Supersonic Laser Deposition where he is trying to investigate the effect of different powder particle sizes on the build rate and the porosity of the deposit.
Prior to joining the IfM, Georgios was an undergraduate student at the Department of Mechanical Engineering in University College of London (UCL). There, he focused on developing superhydrophobic surfaces through anodization on aluminium substrates. He is a cadet second lieutenant in the Cypriot army and has worked for a summer internship at PDN Engineering and Cranes in Parma, Italy. His interests include basketball and playing the Bouzouki and Mpaglamas both of which are Greek traditional instruments.
