
Fathiro Putra is a Research Associate in the Business Model Innovation group at the IfM, University of Cambridge. He works with Dr. Chander Velu in the Business Model Innovation for Digital Technologies and Productivity project. This project aims to understand the implication of business model innovation to productivity improvements following the adoption of new digital technologies.
Fathiro’s research interests lie in the intersection between business model innovation, strategic change, and managerial cognition. He applies advanced qualitative methods to understand strategic challenges of the adoption of new business models and organizational capabilities for business model innovation. Currently, he strives to develop a framework for measuring business model cohesiveness within an organization. He also aims to investigate the implications of new digital technologies such as IoT and Quantum technology to the emergence of new business models.
Fathiro holds a PhD in Innovation Management from the University of Leeds. He was a Marie Curie PhD research fellow under a European Industrial Doctorate programme between the Leeds University of Business School. His PhD thesis The dynamic of platform positioning strategies in a nascent ecosystem and the role of managerial cognition demonstrated how an established firm develops platform strategies in a nascent ecosystem and theorized why they dynamically change their strategies over time. Fathiro also holds an MSc in Innovation Management from Eindhoven University of Technology and a BSc in Engineering Management from Bandung Institute of Technology.
