International STI Policy Forums

The Centre for Science, Technology & Innovation Policy will host a new series of policy forums, beginning autumn 2013, that will seek to analyse and contrast international approaches to manufacturing & industrial policy.

ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL STI POLICY FORUMS

The International STI Policy Forums will bring together researchers and policy makers from across the UK – and beyond – with a shared interest in manufacturing & industrial policy. The forums will contrast science, technology and industrial policy contexts in important manufacturing countries including Germany, Japan, Singapore and UK.

Emphasis will be placed on characterising key elements of the national STI system:

  • National industrial structures
  • Supporting institutional infrastructure
  • Industrial policies

The forums will be hosted from late 2003 - early 2014 at the Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge, providing a space to disseminate and discuss research results, identify emerging common themes, and ensure research relevance to practitioners.

It is anticipated that the key messages identified by the participating experts, including effective practices and lessons learned, will be summarised in policy briefs that will be shared with the wider policy community.
