CAMBRIDGE AUTOMATION WEEK

SOHOMA and LoDiSA Conferences and DIAL Birthday Celebrations

In September 2026 we are hosting a busy week of events, all focussing on our key themes on automation, information and control.

SOHOMA 26

Between 22-23 September we are delighted to be hosting the 16th International Workshop on Service-Oriented, Holonic and Multi-Agent Manufacturing Systems for Industry of the Future (SOHOMA ’26). The main objective of SOHOMA workshops is to foster innovation in smart and sustainable manufacturing and logistics systems and, in this context, to promote concepts, methods, and solutions for the digital transformation of manufacturing through service orientation in holonic and agent-based control with distributed intelligence. SOHOMA will conclude with an afternoon of industrial panel discussions (see below).

LoDiSA 26

Between 23-24 September we are delighted to be running our 4th Workshop on Low-Cost Digital Solutions for Industrial Automation after another very successful event in 2025. LoDiSA aims to foster innovation in low-cost digitalisation and digital transformation by showcasing new concepts, methods, and technologies that empower Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) across sectors such as manufacturing, construction, logistics, and healthcare. LoDISA will begin on 23 September with an afternoon of industrial panel discussions (see below).

DIAL’s 30th Birthday

Cutting across these two events will be a celebration of 30 years of research at Cambridge in industrial automation, information and control (spanning DIAL, and its preceding iterations CDAC and MACSG).

This event will feature a series of industrial panel discussions and mini presentations centred around DIAL’s three enduring themes:

  • Intelligent automation
  • Making the best use of information
  • Dealing with change and disruption

Industrial panellists and DIAL alumni together with LoDiSA and SOHOMA attendees will be brought together to discuss industrial experiences with the three themes and will include experiences of working with DIAL over the years and how this has impacted their industry now.

The industrial panels will be followed by an evening reception.

The whole event will be a fantastic opportunity to network with members for DIAL (past and present), as well as industrial guests and delegates of both SOHOMA and LoDiSA.
