The Spinout Data Summit

Building better evidence to power our ecosystem & drive economic growth.

12 November 2025

Celebrating progress in evidence development and shaping the future of spinout data and measurement.

University spinouts have an important role to play in helping to drive innovation-led economic growth, not least by providing a vehicle to commercialise breakthrough technologies that can open up new wealth creating opportunities in existing industries, help to seed new markets, and provide new commercial solutions to help other companies raise productivity and efficiency. Once a critical mass is reached, they can also help to drive the entrepreneurial dynamism of a local cluster or key industry.

With better data and evidence on spinouts, we can gain deeper insights into spinout journeys and successes and the health and performance of our university spinout ecosystems. Armed with this evidence, we can better shape how we as a sector can support these ventures to seed, grow and scale, attract investment, and demonstrate their importance and impacts on the economy and society.

UCI and Research England are hosting the Spinout Data Summit in central London on 12 November 2025. The event brings together those from across the higher education, policy and data sectors to celebrate the recent achievements made, most notably the launch of a world-first national University Spinout Register.
