Zurina Moktar joined the Business Model Innovation research proggramme in February 2015 as a research student under the supervision of Dr. Chander Velu. Her main area of interest is Intellectual Property Commercialization. She is currently researching the commercialization of invention resulting from university research and its business model implications.
Zurina has completed her MPhil in Conservation Leadership at the University of Cambridge and has obtained BAppSc in Biodiversity Conservation and Management with First Class from the University Malaysia of Terengganu.
As part of her MPhil, she has been mainly involved with the United Nations Environment Programme - World Conservation and Monitoring Centre work through the accomplishment of a professional placement project to develop a Capacity Development Needs Assessment Tool which has already been operationalized in multiple projects within the centre. After completing her MPhil, Zurina interned at the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations, New York. She has also worked at the Public Service Department of Malaysia and has been temporarily attached with the Innovation Agency of Malaysia.
Zurina is now funded under the Malaysia-UK Innovation Alliance; an alliance that seeks to support the exchange of knowledge and intellectual property between the Malaysian and the UK manufacturing sectors with the aim to increase the range of value-added products through the application of science, technology and innovation.
