Dr Thomas Schaeper

Visiting Research Scholar

Thomas is a visiting research scholar at the Innovation and Intellectual Property Management Lab within the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM), University of Cambridge. In collaboration with Prof. Frank Tietze, he harnesses large-language models to classify patent-litigation cases and develop data-driven approaches to innovation protection. 

 

Thomas serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Münster’s Institute for Entrepreneurship and is part of the REACH EUREGIO Startup Center, where he conducts empirical research at the intersection of AI, innovation management, and entrepreneurship. He earned his BSc, MSc, and doctorate in innovation management from the same institution.

 

Beyond academia, Thomas co-founded and led the AI start-up pivoty, which applies big-data analytics to surface customer needs. Passionate about translating scholarly insights into real-world impact, Thomas actively collaborates with industry partners to accelerate responsible, data-driven innovation.
