Tianqi Dong
PhD Student
Research interests
- Laser matter interaction
- Optics and optical design
- Graphene technology
Current Situation
Tianqi joined the Centre for Industrial Photonics as a PhD Research Student in January 2014 and is currently investigating the generation of high purity graphene by using ultrafast laser technology under the supervision of Prof. Bill O'Neill. Tianqi is an online-ambassador of Lucy Cavendish College and also a Committee member of the CUNanotechnology Society.
Background
Tianqi obtained a B.Eng in Optoecletronic Engineering from National University of Defense and Technology, China in 2010. After that she joined the Centre for Photonics and Photonic Materials in University of Bath, and was sponsored by Oversea University Research Studentship looking into the interaction between aerogel and optical fibres, for infrared light transmission and thin film coating (approximately 600nm). During this project studied a Mphil degree in Physics, awarded from Bath in 2013. She was a part-time demonstrator in Undergraduate Physics Experiments.
