Stephen Mak
Doctoral Student
Stephen is a PhD student working with Dr. Alexandra Brintrup in the Manufacturing Analytics Group (part of DIAL). Currently, his main research focus is on optimising supply chains through the use of machine learning and simulations to derive important managerial insights.
Stephen completed his MEng in Aero-mechanical Engineering in Scotland, and then worked for 2 years at Rolls-Royce on their Engineering Graduate Scheme, ultimately applying data science to help aid root cause understanding on high value problems, such as the Trent 1000 Intermediate Pressure Compressor Rotor 1 and 2 problem, as well as Sulphidation issues experienced on the Trent 1000 Intermediate Pressure Turbine Blades.
