
Yizhe Nie joined the NanoManufacturing research group at the Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge in January 2026 as a Ph.D. candidate under the supervision of Professor Michael De Volder. He is a fully funded Cambridge Trust Scholar. He holds an MPhil in Materials Science and Chemical Engineering from Tsinghua University, where his research focused on aqueous redox flow batteries, and a BEng in Safety Engineering from Fuzhou University. His Ph.D. research focuses on electrochemical energy storage, particularly lithium-ion and zinc-ion batteries, with an emphasis on interfacial processes and degradation mechanisms.
