Visiting Graduate Student
Maximilian is a visiting PhD student at the Institute for Manufacturing, supervised by Dr. Mukesh Kumar.
In Cambridge, his research focuses on the relationship between inter-organizational R&D activities and product recalls. In 2019, Maximilian joined the Chair of Logistics Management at ETH Zurich as a PhD student.
In his PhD research, he is specifically interested in the financial implications of digitalisation initiatives in an operations and supply chain management context.
Maximilian holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in industrial engineering from the Technical University of Darmstadt. He further completed a short term academic program at Imperial College London and spent an exchange semester at the Tongji University in Shanghai, China. During his studies, Maximilian gained further academic experience through two research internships, at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, and the National University of Singapore. In St Gallen, Maximilian focused on the managment of n-tier suppliers in the supply chain. In Singapore, he joined The Logistics Institute Asia Pacific within NUS and worked on projects related to (urban) supply chain design and simulation.
Beyond academically motivated stays, Maximilian gained practical experience in air logistics at Lufthansa Cargo, and in strategy consulting through internships at Monitor Deloitte and Bain Company.
