João Francisco Mendes is a medical student from NOVA Medical School in Lisbon, Portugal and is currently visiting Cambridge University as a part of his master’s degree. João is currently working with Dr.Olivia Remes, providing input into a conceptual framework looking at the physical factors linked to depression, and body systems linked to poor mental health. João will review studies related to the physical factors linked to depression and based on this, will provide input into the conceptual framework outlining how various physical factors increase the risk for this condition. This conceptual framework will be submitted for publication and will represent an important piece for other academics, policy-makers, and charities looking to tackle poor mental health. Knowing the physical factors linked to depression, then intervention and prevention strategies can be tailored.”
