Jan C. Weyerer

Visiting Researcher

Jan C. Weyerer is a Visiting Researcher at the Business Model Innovation Group, where he explores the role of Agentic AI within the digital platform economy. As an economist specialising in technological change and innovation, his research focuses on digital innovation, technology management, and business model management across both the private and public sectors, with a particular emphasis on AI and big data. He also serves as a Research Associate at the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer.

 

Previously, Jan was a Visiting Researcher at the Institute for Business Innovation at the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley. He holds a Doctoral Degree in Economics from the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer and studied Social Sciences and Business Administration at the University of Mannheim and the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Alongside his academic work, Jan has extensive experience in IT and innovation management. He has worked as a manager or consultant with leading companies in the chemical, technology, and retail sectors, most recently serving as Director of IT for a German grocery retail group. His expertise lies in technology strategy, innovation management, and business transformation.
