Elizabeth Tofaris

Communications Manager

Elizabeth Tofaris leads communications for the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM), its knowledge transfer arm, IfM Engage, and Cambridge Industrial Innovation Policy at the University of Cambridge, working across manufacturing, industrial innovation, and policy.

 

She specialises in translating research, programmes, and partnerships into clear, engaging content for industry, government, and academic audiences. Her work includes supporting the launch of major reports, international collaborations, and thought leadership, as well as expanding digital engagement across channels.

 

Elizabeth is the editor of the IfM’s annual magazine, the IfM Review, shaping content that highlights the Institute’s research, education, and impact. She regularly authors articles published in The Manufacturer magazine. In addition to written and digital outputs, she has led the development of films and visual storytelling projects to communicate research, training, and policy work to broader audiences.

 

She has supported communications for key initiatives, including the UK Innovation Report and multi-stakeholder collaborations such as with UNIDO, the World Economic Forum, and the UAE’s Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) to promote best practices in manufacturing.

 

She serves on the steering committee for the Women in Manufacturing UK initiative, where she has helped shape the agenda and communications for its annual conference that drives sector-wide conversations on inclusive growth. She also manages communications for the Global Initiative for Industrial Safety, enhancing its profile and sharing its work internationally.

 

Before joining IfM Engage, Elizabeth worked at the Research for Equitable Access and Learning (REAL) Centre in the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge. There, she specialised in translating research evidence for the Department for International Development-funded Impact Initiative. 

 

She holds an MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge.
