Elizabeth Storer

Doctoral Researcher

Elizabeth is an EPSRC-funded PhD researcher whose work focuses on emerging digital tools that support decision-making in industry for more sustainable futures. Her research explores how advances in immersive technologies, artificial intelligence, and other digital tools can help organizations transition toward more environmentally and socially responsible practices.

She holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering from the Politecnico di Torino, where she focused on cinema and media technologies, and a second Master’s degree in Digital Postproduction from the Universitat Politècnica de València.

 

Her academic work includes research conducted at Ontario Tech University, where her Master’s thesis explored AI-enabled Virtual Assistant Tutors for Immersive Virtual Learning Environments. Before beginning her PhD, Elizabeth worked in Brussels with the European Association of Automotive Suppliers and for Technopolis Group as a consultant for the European Commission DG CNECT, contributing to initiatives such as Strategic Digital Technologies for FP10 and the Cloud and AI Study.

 

Elizabeth has also conducted research at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya on the Providence Project, which applies data-driven approaches to protect biodiversity. Her work focused on training and testing convolutional neural network models to monitor species in the Amazon Rainforest, and she participated in the finals of the XPRIZE Rainforest international competition. Alongside her research, she has taught at primary level in Spain, where she developed a keen interest in educational technologies and immersive learning environments.
