Denis Niedenzu joined the IfM as a full-time doctoral student working on International Manufacturing under the supervision of Dr. Mukesh Kumar in October 2017. His research focuses on the operationalisation of circularity in manufacturing operations. He is particularly interested in the system change requirements for circularity and the environmental and economic evaluation of a circular manufacturing system. Dr. Naoum Tsolakis advises Denis with his research experience in industrial systems and network analysis.
Denis holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Production Engineering with focus on Materials and Manufacturing Technologies from the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg. He also holds a Master of Philosophy Degree in Industrial Systems, Manufacture and Management from the University of Cambridge. Denis’ dissertation explored the relationship of digitalisation and decision-making in the context of global supply networks.
During his bachelor studies, Denis worked for a student-run consultancy, which has been repeatedly voted “Best student consultancy” in Germany. He also worked in the automotive industry and in Inhouse Consulting in Transport & Logistics with focus on Operations Management.
