Bang Xiang Yong
Doctoral Student
Bang Xiang Yong is a Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King of Malaysia) scholar pursuing a PhD degree within the Distributed Information and Automation Laboratory (DIAL) under the supervision of Dr. Alexandra Brintrup, and is a member of Churchill College. He obtained his B.Eng in Electrical-Electronics (2017) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and was awarded the Chancellor’s Award for his outstanding achievements in academic and co-curricular activities.
He is interested in probabilistic deep learning methods and has contributed to the development of Bayesian Autoencoders in three ways: formulation and design, uncertainty quantification, and explainability. He is also the lead developer of baetorch and agentMET4FOF Python packages. In addition, he conducts courses on deep learning for postgraduate students. He has also served as a reviewer for IEEE journals.
