Senior academics, policymakers and industrialists discuss the future of manufacturing at 10th UK Manufacturing Professors Forum

The IfM was well represented at the 10th UK Manufacturing Professors Forum, held on 24 June at the National Liberal Club in London.

This year the programme focussed on the future of manufacturing, with contributions from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, Technology Strategy Board and EPSRC, industrial input from Unilever and Shell, followed by a briefing and workshops as part of the national Manufacturing Foresight Study.

At the end of the day, the group was addressed by the Minister for Universities and Science, David Willetts, who gave a very up-beat account of the importance of science, engineering and industry. Over dinner, representatives from 20 universities were joined by senior industrialists for this increasingly popular annual occasion.
