Manufacturing Innovators - Dan Summerbell and Pippa Horton

Manufacturing Innovators is a talk series hosted at the IfM bringing together science, technology, and manufacturing to explore how new ideas become real products, and why closer collaboration between these worlds really matters.
Each session will feature a manufacturing innovator sharing the story behind their work: why they started, what they built, and how they did it – along with the challenges they faced and the opportunities they discovered along the way.
In this session, we will be joined by Dan Summerbell, CarbonRe, with Pippa Horton, ReClinker.

About the talks:
The Path to a Gigaton: Bringing AI to Heavy Industry
Dan Summerbell, Co-Founder and Chief Solutions Officer, Carbon Re
Carbon Re is tackling a big industrial challenge: how to cut emissions in sectors like cement, where the processes are complex and hard to optimise. The company has developed an AI-based solution that helps plants run more efficiently and reduce CO2, spanning a journey from university research to a business working with industry around the globe.
Decarbonising cement production - Reclinker's Journey
Pippa Horton, Co-Founder & Chief Growth Officer, ReClinker
ReClinker’s revolutionary process transforms material recovered from concrete waste into high-performance, low-carbon cement using the same electric arc furnaces (EAFs) that recycle steel. This ingenious co-recycling method creates a truly circular product, minimising environmental impact while maximising structural integrity.
