Research Assistant/Associate in Infrastructure Information Management (Fixed Term)
A position exists, for a Research Assistant/Associate in the Department of Engineering, to work on Infrastructure Information Management. The focus of research is on developing tools for integrating different data sources to support whole-life asset management of infrastructure assets and systems. This will involve developing BIM models of selected structures and spaces, identifying data requirements for asset management, defining asset information models and integrating such data with the BIM models. The Research Assistant/Associate will work with CSIC's industry partners to understand their requirements, identify specific case studies and demonstrator projects, and develop generalizable tools and guidelines for asset information management. The longer-term goal of this activity is to support the Digital Built Britain's Level 3 and Level 4 agenda.
The Research Assistant/Associate should be expert in information management and BIM. Appreciation of the challenges in infrastructure asset management is desirable. Past experience and/or knowledge of infrastructure/asset information modelling, BIM and IFC standards will be deemed highly beneficial. Applications are invited from candidates who have obtained (or are close to obtaining) a PhD or relevant industry/project experience in Engineering, Computer Science or relevant discipline.
Salary Ranges: Research Assistant: £25,298 - £30,175, Research Associate: £30,175 - £38,183
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 18 months in the first instance.
The researcher will work under the supervision of Dr Ajith Parlikad.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
