Student research trip to Japan

The IfM's Manufacturing Engineering Tripos (MET) part 2B students recently returned from a successful two-week overseas research project to Japan.

The aim of the project was to investigate the digitalisation of manufacturing and the progress that is being made in Japan. The students visited three areas: Tokyo, Fuji and Kyoto, and met with 16 different organisations. Organisations visited include Fanuc (industrial robotics), Omron (automation), Daikin (air conditioning) and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, as well as many others.

The IfM and MET students would like to thank our many industrial sponsors, without who the trip would not have been possible, particularly Mars, Cambridge Design Partnership, Butchers Pet Care, Halma and McKinsey.

The students will present the outcomes of the research at 6pm on Thursday 28 September 2017 at the IfM. Everyone is welcome to attend and refreshments will be provided. The project report will also be made available at this time.
