Strategic Intellectual Property Forum continues engagement

The recent fifth Strategic IP Forum, held on 18 May, focused on the emerging topic of IP strategies in and around software. After a welcome by Dick Bizley (AvidityIP) five excellent speakers from BenevolentAI (Gareth Jones), Microsoft (Patricia Christias), Eagle Genomics (Anthony Finbow), the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute (Ross Rounsevell) and Martin Callinan (Source Code Control Ltd) shared their experience on managing software patents, due diligence processes, licensing strategies around open source and open data policies, IP insurance programmes and processes for IP compliance.

Conversations continued over drinks and snacks well after the event and we saw the return of several participants from previous events; we are making good progress in building a community of people interested in strategic IP management in Cambridge.
