IfM Briefing Day attracts more than 150 senior industrialists and policymakers
The event, on May 13, offered several interactive sessions for senior industrialists and policymakers in which the latest research, practical approaches and applied case studies from the IfM were presented.
IfM practitioners described some recent collaborations where research-based tools and techniques have been applied in both industrial contexts and the public sector. Attendees could meet IfM researchers from across the whole spectrum of manufacturing, from R&D and design to supply, production and service.
The day provided a forum for the exchange of ideas and an opportunity to explore possible collaborations in the form of joint research activities, consultancy and education through IfM Education and Consultancy Services (IfM ECS). There was also time for discussions to enable delegates to assess the relevance of topics to their own needs.
Professor Sir Mike Gregory gave the opening introduction and the event featured presentations on the future of manufacturing; capturing value from global networks; science, technology and innovation policy; inkjet technology; sustainability; industrial information and automation; and developing the next generation of manufacturing leaders.
Presentations and resources from the day are available here.
