The report follows a workshop which explored effective practices for building and nurturing effective international collaborations in manufacturing research which was hosted for the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills.

The workshop brought together academics from a range of different manufacturing-related research disciplines and institutions, who have research partners in a variety of countries. Workshop participants also included policymakers and agency officials involved in developing relevant funding programmes.

The workshop built on the findings from a recent survey of UK-based manufacturing research academics which explored the geographic landscape of collaborations, what partners from different locations bring to the projects, and what needs to be done to improve the effective functioning of the partnerships.
