Position

Doctoral Student

Affiliation

Sina Habibi

Research Interest:

  • Nanofabrication
  • Rapid Prototyping in Micro-Nano technology
  • Charged Particle lithography: Focused Ion Beam and Electron Beam
  • MEMS
  • Self Assembly of Biomolecules: DNA, Protein and Cells
  • Doping semi-conductors and dopant profiling
  • Microscopy: SEM(Scanning Electron Microscopy), AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy), KPFM(Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy)
  • Nano-metrology in large scales: Interferometer
  • Laser micromachining: specialized in Ultra Violet and Ultrafast Lasers

Current Research:

  • The research project aims to use the latest tools developed in part by the drive for smaller and smaller components for the semi-conductor industry such as FIB, STM, AFM and SEM to pattern the electrochemical potential of a solid state substrate such that specifically engineered proteins can be directly patterned to form the basis for further self-assembly of engineered biomolecules.
  • The aim is to create a controllable connection between a macroscopic solid state substrate and the biological world. This device will act as a common interface between macroscopic human operations and natural processes.

Background:

  • Specialized in fluid mechanics and mathematical and stochastic modelling
  • Modelled the movement of particles in turbulent fluid flows by applying Markov chains in MATLAB for the final project which received one of the highest mark in the mechanical engineering school
  • Qualified mechanical engineer by passing the course with exceptional marks and work experience in automotive and HVAC industries
