Background

Martin Smith has spent 20 years in front line management roles in manufacturing businesses, and in consultancy for business and government.  His industrial experience includes senior Production Management, General Management and multi-site Operations Management roles in multinational businesses.  Supplying FMCG to mature, over-supplied markets he has gained extensive experience of the design and execution of business restructuring plans, cultural and organizational change, process improvement and capital investment to achieve manufacturing excellence, major cost saving, sales growth and business turnaround.

Martin read Natural Sciences at Cambridge University and completed the ACPMM - a progenitor of ISMM.  He joined the IfM ECS team in 2009 which is focussed on developing innovative business tools and using these tools to help deliver long term sustainable improvements to manufacturing SMEs.
