Dr Mark HarrisonCurrent positionMark joined the Auto-ID Lab in May 2002, initially working on software for tracking systems within our automation laboratory.
Over the years, he has been involved in a number of projects including the EU BRIDGE project,
the Drug Security Network, Aerospace ID Technologies programme and more recently, Airport Operations and SAHNE. BackgroundB.A. Natural Sciences (Physics) in 1988-1991 - Christ's College, Cambridge. 1st class. Ph. D. at the Cavendish Laboratory Oct 1991 - Feb 1995, entitled "Optical studies of charged excitations in conjugated polymers and oligomers" in research group of Prof. Richard Friend. Research fellow at St. John's College, October 1994 - September 1997 - further research into spectroscopy of conjugated oligomers and photocurrent spectra of conjugated polymers, two book chapters published in "Electronic Materials - The Oligomer Approach" and "Handbook of Oligo- and Polythiophenes". October 1997 - March 1999: Further post-doctoral research in the Philipps-University of Marburg, Germany with Prof. H. Baessler and Prof. G. Weiser - on electroabsorption spectroscopy and two-photon absorption of ladder polymers. Returned to Cambridge April 1999 - working for Cambridge Advanced Electronics plc. (formerly Seescan, later became Internet-Extra Ltd.), initially doing contract work for Cambridge Display Technology - then developing internet applications for teleworking and for large volume data synchronisation and web capture services ( http://www.active-brochure.com ). Internet-Extra Ltd. ceased operations at end of 2001.
