Dr John AshtonBackgroundDr John Ashton has spent over 23 years in advanced technology manufacturing with major UK PLCs. During this time he specialised in the transition of new products and processes from R&D into series production. For a number of years he managed a silicon CCD (Image Sensor) wafer fab. More recent industrial posts include the management of an extensive industrial R&D project portfolio, IPR and strategic marketing. In 1999 he created HotVac Hull Cure Limited, an electrical equipment manufacturer for the marine industry using unique patented technology. The company has since been successfully sold. He has worked extensively with technology based start-ups and SMEs in the east of England, in the development of their commercial strategies, in addition raising ~£2M in grant money for these firms. Dr Ashton has a BSc in Electronics and his PhD, undertaken at Cambridge University Engineering Department in 1975 was in thin film electronics. |
