Jaime Macias joined the institute for Manufacturing (IfM) in September 2020 as a PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Duncan McFarlane. His research focuses on the area of digital logistics, specifically on the impact that low-cost, readily available digital technologies can have on the performance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the logistics sector. He is also a member of Hughes Hall, a college of the University of Cambridge.

 

Jaime holds a master's degree, with distinction, in International Supply Chain Management from the University of Exeter (UK) and a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from ESPOL (Ecuador). Before joining DIAL, he worked in the Department of Industrial Engineering of ESPOL, where he was involved in teaching activities in areas such as Sustainable Supply Chain Management, Stochastic Modelling, Forecasting, and Inventory Control. Before joining Academia, he was Head of Planning and Supply in IPAC-DUFERCO, a multinational in the steel sector, and an independent manufacturing and logistics consultant.
