Deepesh joined the Institute for Manufacturing in October 2023 as a Visiting Scholar, and he is currently working as the Lead Researcher in Cloud Manufacturing and Supply Chain at the Global Supply Chain Observatory project led by the Industrial Resilience Research Group. The aim of the project is to build supply chain resilience through enhancing visibility, traceability, and transparency in critical minerals supply chains.

In addition to his role at Cambridge, Deepesh is a Doctoral Researcher in Manufacturing Engineering (PhD Candidate) at the University of Nottingham (UNNC). His research interests include manufacturing and supply chain digitalisation, and advancing industrial metaverse adoption. His primary research focuses on cloud manufacturing, particularly evaluating the aerospace composite manufacturing industry's readiness for Manufacturing-as-a-Service transformation.

He has also worked with the Composite Research Group, Advanced Energy Environmental Materials & Technologies Research Group at UNNC, and the Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Robotics and Intelligent Manufacturing Equipment Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Ningbo, China), as part of the Doctoral Training Partnership Program at the University of Nottingham. Prior to pursuing his PhD, he worked as a University Lecturer in Sri Lanka.

Deepesh has appeared in multiple conferences, workshops, and webinars as a guest speaker and is actively contributing to esteemed international journals, including the Journal of Manufacturing Systems (IF 12.1), along with publications at various IEEE and International Conferences spanning the UK, France, Turkey, Peru, China, and Sri Lanka. Deepesh recently contributed as an author to the Engineering Handbook titled Advances of Digital Manufacturing Systems (Springer Nature).

In recognition of his academic achievements, Deepesh has received various awards and scholarships, including two Nottingham Scholar Awards, the Ningbo Government Scholarship for outstanding international PhD students in 2023, and awards in international research competitions including Global Runner-up in U21/PwC Innovation Challenge Global Competition 2019/20 and Runner-up in the 3MT Competition 2020. Beyond his academic achievements, following his knowledge dissemination ambitions, Deepesh delivered a TEDx talk at TEDx UNNC 2021 (Ningbo, China) on the topic 'Cloud Manufacturing: Manufacturing at Your Fingertips'.
