Public sector services- Technology strategy: Innovation priorities to deliver a better world

Those responsible for directing technology investment at a national or sector level face increasing challenges of resource scarcity (funding and talent), accelerating pace of change and global competition. There is a pressing need to focus research and investment into appropriate challenge areas which will either have a significant "magic bullet" impact on the highest priorities or will underpin development across a broad spectrum of applications and deliver holistic solutions.

IfM practitioners have supported the UK's Technology Strategy Board and a number of Knowledge Transfer Networks to develop Technology Roadmaps for key Innovation Platforms. The collaborative project developed a standardised methodology through a number of pilot applications (for example in the life sciences and built environment) and then codified these approaches for wider deployment, supported by a focused knowledge transfer programme.
