Technology intelligenceMonitoring science and technology developmentsOne day workshop, Thursday 11 March 2010, Institute for Manufacturing, CambridgeThis event has been cancelled
Technology intelligence is the activity that enables companies to identify the technological opportunities and threats that could affect the future growth and survival of their business. It aims to capture and disseminate the technological information needed for strategic planning and decision making. As technology life cycles shorten and business becomes more globalised, having effective technology intelligence capabilities is becoming increasingly important. In particular, technology intelligence is an indispensable asset for technology-based companies. The workshopThis workshop aims to disseminate results of research on technology intelligence. Attendees learn about the latest research findings and receive a copy of the technology intelligence workbook developed by the Centre for Technology Management. Every year we select contributions from different types of companies, at different levels of TI implementation to present their personal experiences in setting up technology intelligence activities. From these case studies attendees can learn about the strategies, tools and techniques used by others, as well as the challenges inherent in tackling implementation and the tactical approaches used. This year there will be presentations from three different companies, including one example of how a technology intelligence activity was started in a multinational company. There will be opportunities to network and exchange information both with researchers and with the other participants. Participants in previous years have formed links and communities of practice and remained in contact with the different activities and projects of the IfM. Who should attend?Technology managers, executive managers, directors and those who would benefit from a technology intelligence system. Technologists, gatekeepers and others who take an active part in the technology intelligence activity for their business. Programme
