Performance Management

One-day workshop, IfM, Cambridge
Thursday 26 November 2009

iCalendar Entry

  • identify key measures of performance for your business
  • design effective performance measures and a balanced measurement system
  • manage performance through measurement
  • course workbook

Understanding how your business is performing is essential to remain competitive, but it is extremely difficult to achieve in practice. Gone are the days when financial results were the sole measure of success. Modern managers are equally interested in knowing:

  • how well do we satisfy our customers?
  • how good are our internal processes?
  • what must we excel at to be successful in the future?

What is needed is a 'balanced scorecard', tailor-made for your businesss - but how can you design this and thereby create a really effective measurement system? Researchers at the Institute for Manufacturing have spent more than 15 years helping companies develop and implement performance measurement systems. This work has resulted in a tried and tested process, which has been published in a workbook, 'Getting the measure of your business'.

The workshop

The workshop will introduce you to performance measurement and provide you with tools to enable you to design, implement and manage performance measures. Attending the workshop will provide you with a complete process for developing a balanced performance measurement system for your company. All participants will receive a copy of 'Getting the measure of your business' and accompanying CD.

Who should attend?

Executives responsible for managing and improving performance; typically managing directors, general managers and the functional heads responsible for engineering, human resources, operations, sales and finance.
