Flow measurement and industrial flowsWorkshop series, IfM, Cambridge, 22 - 24 June 2010Cancelled due to insufficient bookings This series of three workshops is run by Cambridge University's Institute for Manufacturing in collaboration with Endress + Hauser. They will introduce participants to flowmeters; the basics, selection and current technology. The workshops will provide an overview of flow measurement techniques and flowmeter selection as well as a deeper understanding of some modern designs of flowmeter. Course books by the workshop director, Roger Baker, are included in the fee for each workshop. All three workshops will be held at the Institute for Manufacturing, Cambridge. Day 1 (half-day)Introduction to industrial flowsThe first workshop gives an overview of industrial flows for sales staff and others involved with instrumentation, pipework, pumping systems and other related equipment, who would benefit from a greater technical understanding of flow behaviour. The workshop will include:
Day 2 (whole day)Flow measurement and flowmeter selectionThis workshop gives a general introduction to measuring flow, including problems that may arise when using flowmeters and software to support equipment selection. It is particularly suitable for staff responsible for specification and purchasing of flowmeters and those in sales and marketing who are new to the industry. The workshop will include:
Day 3 (whole day)Current flowmeter technologiesThe final workshop provides a more advanced consideration of the design, operation and application of some current flowmeter designs. It is aimed at instrument and project engineers and contractors in R&D, design and manufacturing. The workshop will include presentations by manufacturers of their own experiences. It will cover:
Who should attend? The first two workshops are designed for those in sales and marketing, or those responsible for specification or purchase of equipment, who would benefit from a basic understanding of the subject areas.
