The fundamentals of food manufacturing managementOne-day course, Cambridge, Tuesday 17 FebruaryThis workshop is specially designed for those working in the food industry. It offers a unique programme for team leaders and production supervisors who are looking for new ideas to reduce waste and improve performance. Interactive sessions will focus on key business areas to demonstrate how fundamental principles can be used to solve everyday management problems. An action planning session will help participants to identify issues to take back to their companies. The workshop has been developed for established team leaders and supervisors but is also appropriate for managers who would like to refresh their understanding of basic manufacturing principles. It is run by the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM), part of the University of Cambridge’s Department of Engineering. A certificate of attendance will be sent to attendees on completion of the workshop. Workshop programmeThe programme will start at 9.30 am and finish at 4.00 pm. A buffet lunch will be provided. The day will be divided into three sessions: 1. Lean manufacturing
This session blends theory, simulation and discussion to identify how to optimise workflow labour utilisation and machine capacity in a "demanding customer" environment. 2. Improving performance through reduced waste
This session considers how to achieve the win/ win goal of reducing wastes and presenting a "green" face to the customer. 3. Identifying and managing improvement projects
The final session focusses on how to achieve improvements, both by selecting the right projects and then creating the teams that will drive through improvements. The presenterThe workshop will be facilitated by Tom Ridgman, Director of External Education at the IfM. |
