MPhil and PhD |
Research Degrees in ManufacturingThe Manufacturing and Management Division of the Department of Engineering operates under the banner of 'the Institute for Manufacturing' (IfM). Research in the IfM has three clear goals:
To help attain these goals we offer a one year MPhil and a three year PhD for students of high ability. Throughout the PhD and MPhil research programmes, students have opportunities to gain a powerful mix of practical experience in companies, research expertise, and personal development to help lead them onto successful careers. Industrial collaborationIfM research has a strong emphasis on working closely with industrialists. Recent collaborators include, amongst others, Rolls-Royce Aerospace, T&N, Lucas, GEC, Philip and British Aerospace. These companies are involved in 'live' projects that tackle real business issues. This strong practitioner focus provides the back-bone to all our research. Click here for a list of current IfM member companies. IfM has more than twenty years experience in manufacturing and management research and has gained a strong reputation for doing applied research that is useful to businesses. There are currently around 80 individuals researching for PhD or MPhil degrees in the IfM.
Research methodology workshopIfM research students host an annual research methodology workshop funded by the ESPRC. |
