Visiting Research Fellow

Dr Michał Sobótka

Michał Sobótka is a visiting Research Fellow at the Institute's Centre for Strategy and Performance.

He currently works for the energy company EWE AG in Oldenburg, Germany, where he coordinates strategic initiatives in the area of gas and electricity distribution networks.

Before taking up his fulltime role at EWE, Michał led industrial trials of IfM's Business Strategy Tool, a new approach for the analysis and formulation of business strategy for small and medium enterprises and for single business units of multinational corporations.

The development of IfM's Business Strategy Tool was informed by Michał's prior research on enterprise planning , strategic modeling and performance management in collaboration with the Centre's corporate partners.

Background

Before joining the Institute in 2003, Michał gained engineering experience in Germany at EWE and Volkswagen. He studied management at UC Berkeley (USA), electronics at UAS Cologne and RWTH Aachen (Germany), and computer science at Warsaw UT (Poland). At Cambridge, Michał conducted his research in the IfM firstly as a doctoral student and later as a postdoctoral Research Associate. His doctorate was awarded by the University of Cambridge in 2008.
