Dr Mike Gregory

Background

Mike Gregory joined the Institute for Manufacturing as a part-time industrial tutor in October 2005. He read Mechanical Sciences at Cambridge University and completed an MSc in Aviation Electronics at Cranfield University while serving in the Engineer Branch of the Royal Air Force. He held engineering appointments at home and abroad that included: maintenance support for operational aircraft and ground electronics systems; introduction into Service of new military aircraft; the design, manufacture and installation of specialist avionics in aircraft; engineering management IT systems; flight simulators; engineer training; wet-film and digital image processing.

At Cranfield University from 1997 to 2004, he researched the application of concurrent engineering to the extended enterprise and completed a PhD in computer-integrated manufacturing. Post-doctoral work included:

  • Telegenesis project to develop a new scenario for distributed design team working.
  • BAE Systems Strategic Capability Partnership with Cranfield University.
  • Definition of functionality and condition limits states for construction industry whole life costs prediction.
